STAFF at an Ilkeston store got saucy this weekend to raise £255 for charity.
Manager of Superdrug Cathy Mansell sat in a bath of beans inside the Albion Centre store for an impressive four hours while shoppers donated cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Staff members donned schoolgirl outfits and held raffles and sold homemade cakes to help reach their total.
Afterwards, 48-year-old Cathy, who is recovering from breast cancer, said: “I did like beans but not any more – the smell was awful. The people of Ilkeston were so generous. It was wonderful.” Cathy, who has twice walked over hot coals for charity, said she is hoping to hold more wacky fundraising events in-store in the future.
