A mother and daughter team bidding to set up a new charity are kick-starting their effort with a glitzy fundraising ball.
Professional hairdresser Cassie Combes from Kirk Hallam and her mum Paula Westwood-Fox of Marlpool, are together launching Patient Hair – a new charity for people who have suffered hair loss through illness.
The duo are to host a day long event on June 30 at Risley Park Function Rooms featuring a feast of entertainment.
Between 10.30am and 4.40pm there will be performances from former Britain’s Got Talent star Stuart Arnold - famed for his impressions of the Terminator. The day will also see Mickey and Mini-Mouse and Pirates of the Carribean character Jack Sparrow there to entertain children, various therapy stalls for adults to try, face painting and more.
An evening ball is to start at 6pm featuring a three course meal, a charity auction and live entertainment.
Patient Hair aims to tailor good quality wigs for sufferers of a range of illnesses at a fraction of the usual £100-£200 cost. Cassie, 28, is hoping the event will raise enough to get the charity off the ground. She said: “I’m just trying to give something back. I’m not a qualified nurse, but this is the best way I can help people.”
Tickets are £50 for the evening and are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling her on 07581087056
