Are you using that seagull? Trust says

Plastic seagulls, deck chairs and lobster pots are just some of the items being sought by Midland Railway – Butterley as volunteers prepare a new seaside-themed attraction there.

The heritage railway trustees are recreating the golden age of family holidays by train to the British seaside, by installing a mock “coastal resort” at the Swanwick Junction station.

Now they are looking for props to help bring the experience to life.

Development officer Allan Calladine said the trust is calling for donations of parasols, plastic seagulls, a rowing boat, lobster pots, wooden framed deck-chairs and emulsion paint.

They would also be interested to hear from any company or individual interested in sponsoring the beach sand.

Items are required by the middle of July at the latest, but sooner if possible - for the ‘resort’ to open on July 24 and remain open throughout summer.
