Producers of a forthcoming musical say they were ‘overwhelmed’ with the talent at its recent weekend audition.
Nearly 50 aspiring young actresses auditioned for roles in Annie on September 9 – which Ripley and Afreton Musical theatre Company is to stage in April 2013.
After more than two hours of singing, dancing and acting –and several renditions of ‘It’s The Hard Knock Life,’ 24 were selected to make up two teams of orphans, with the role of Annie being played in rotation by 10-year-old Olivia Priestly from Greasley and 10-year-old Emily Weston from Alfreton .
Secretary for the company Jane Oates said: “Annie has become one of the best-loved family musicals of all time.
“The show boasts one of Broadway’s most memorable scores. There’s fantastically visual choreography, a side-splittingly funny script and, of course, the adorable dog Sandy.”
The company is seeking new adult members. If anyone is interested contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
RAMTC’s production will be directed by Phil Simcox with Chris Parkes as choreographer and Dave Adey as musical director.
The show runs from 8th - 13th April 2013.
