A STUDENT from Denby competed at the 2012 Olympic stadium in London as part of a test race.
Alexandra Turner, 20, ran in the 800 metres at the British Universities and Colleges Championships on May 4 to 7.
Representing Nottingham Trent University, Alexandra came third in her first race and qualified for the semi-finals - where she just missed out on making the final by half a second. She said: “It was amazing - it was the biggest track I’ve ever competed on!” Alexandra trains with Amber Valley Athletics in Ilkeston and studies sport and leisure with psychology and education.
With a current personal best of two minutes, ten seconds, one day she hopes to compete at the Olympics.
