At the recent Autumn Fayre of the 1st Ripley Scout Group long time member Mrs Dorothy Hutchinson was proudly presented with a certificate marking 70 years of scouting.

The presentation was carried out by the High Sheriff of Derbyshire, Mr. David Coleman.

Mr. Coleman was a Cub Scout at the Group when Dorothy was the Akela of the Cub Pack, so he was able to make the presentation very personal and share some of his very pleasant memories with those present.

The award Dorothy received is given by the Scout Association for
exceptional service to the Scouting movement, an
accolade for which she
certainly qualifies.

Dorothy is still a
member of the 1st Ripley Scout Group; she is an active participant in the Executive Committee and takes part in the majority of the 1st Ripley Scouts fundraising projects.
