Cigarettes were stolen from an Alfreton store by two masked raiders on Monday night.

A silver Vauxhall Meriva pulled up outside the One Stop Shop on Nottingham Road at 7.40pm.

At 8.05pm the car reversed into a disabled parking space and two men got out. One went into the shop, leapt over the counter and filled a bag with cigarettes. The other man opened the boot of the car and then helped his colleague.

Both men wore dark clothing and balaclavas. They were not thought to be armed and did not threaten anyone.

Staff ran into the back room and called the police.

The raiders got back into the car, which was driven away immediately.

Detectives believe a third man may have been driving. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
