£350K lottery boost for cops’ boxing project

a POLICE-RUN boxing programme for youngsters has received a £350,000 cash boost from the Big Lottery Fund (BLF).

The grant will allow Derbyshire Constabulary to expand its successful OZBOX project which encourages young people who have been involved in crime to channel their energies in a positive direction.

The free, non-contact gym and sports programme teaches boxing techniques and runs gyms in Ripley, Buxton, Chesterfield and Derby. Mick McGrath, of BLF East Midlands said: “It’s great to see the local police working hard to help give youngsters support and guidance in such fun and engaging ways.”
