Festival fever sweeps Derbyshire

Music-mad residents of Derbyshire will have plenty of live action to keep them entertained this month.

Festival fever has kicked off in style in mid-Derbyshire where a town has come together in celebration of all things musical.

Ripley Music Festival is now in its 15th year and spans all genres and all generations.

There’s still time to catch the fun with a range of gigs and concerts, offering everthing from rock bands to a male voice choir, running through until Sunday, July 17.

The big gig of the week in Ripley is Rom Fest on Crossley Park, this Sunday from 1pm to 6pm Headlined by Syteria, the supporting acts include Newton Park, Pink Diamond, Airstrike, Tall Poppies and Shadow Days Project.

Stainsby Festival is the longest-running event of its kind in north Derbyshire and will rack up a staggering 48 years this weekend.

Big Country and Dizrael are the top acts at Stainsby, which takes over a greenfield site near Heath, Chesterfield.

Carnfield Hall at South Normanton will hosts the annual Rock & Bike Fest this weekend with main acts including Nazareth, Gun, Lawnmower Deth, Anti-Nowhere League and O.D. Saxon.

There will be a plethora of tribute bands, honouring the hits of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motorhead and Guns ‘n’ Roses to name a few.

The Rock & Blues CustomShow motors into the Coney Grey Showground at Pentrich, near Alfreton, for three days of serious partying, kicking off on July 21.

Top draws include Skinny Molly, Dr and the Medics, The Courtesans, Motorkill and Slade UK.

The county’s most high-profile festival comes at the end of the month with YNot taking over Pikehall between Buxton and Matlock.

Editors, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Madness are the big-name headliners at YNot which runs from July 29 to 31.

Fifty established and new acts will be making tracks for the Midland Railway Centre, Ripley on the last weekend in July.

Saint Etienne, The Aislers Set and The Spook School are among those who will be performing in the three-day Indietracks at the railway centre.
