DERBYSHIRE County Council has said its new ebook loan service is proving a big hit with readers who have already borrowed 5,000 books. It has taken less than six months to reach total, said a spokesman. Since July 2011, our library members have been able to download library books directly to their PCs, smartphones, tablets and ebook readers.

County council leader Cllr Andrew Lewer said he was pleased the new, free download service was proving popular.
