A cappella stars Coope, Boyes and Simpson, plus Pete Morton, to play live in Darley Abbey
Hailed as Britain's leading a cappella trio, Barry Coope, Jim Boyes and Lester Simpson bring a chance to hear the results of their latest songwriting when they play on home ground, at the Robert Ludlam Theatre in Darley Abbey this weekend.
Whether breathing new life to older traditional songs, or through their own incisive songwriting, their powerful and distinctive unaccompanied singing has taken English roots into radical new directions.
They are described as “quite simply the best purveyors of a cappella songs on these Islands”.
With 16 best-selling albums to their name this incomparable trio has been at the heart of the British folk scene for the past 26 years.
They have delighted audiences at most major UK folk festivals and this year will headline at Saltburn, Oxford and Whitby Festivals.
Their special guest this weekend is Pete Morton – himself a singer and songwriter with a wealth of great songs.
His live shows are dynamic and thought provoking, whilst remaining approachable and fun loving.
A great performer at any folk gathering to complete this concert.
The concert is on Saturday, April 9 at 8pm with doors open from 7pm.
Tickets are £16 from the ticket hotline on 01773 853428, Derby Live on 01332 255800 or online at www.gigantic.com
