Oddsocks perform Shakespeare with a twist at city park

Derbyshire-based theatre company Oddsocks return to Markeaton Park for the second of its summer Shakespeare productions next week.

Having already performed Macbeth last month, Oddsocks will now turn the attention to Much Ado About Nothing, which can be seen from Tuesday, July 26-Thursday, July 28.

For over 25 years, the theatre group has toured to countries as far afield as Jordan and Syria with their iconic style of comedy, to add to their portfolio of indoor and outdoor events across the United Kingdom.

There is no limit to what an Oddsocks performance might contain. Recently, they performed their comedy adaptation of The Legend of King Arthur across the UK and Channel Islands to great acclaim, retelling the classic Arthurian legend with an inimitable Oddsocks twist.

Elli Mackenzie, Oddsocks co-founder and producer, describes the unique style of performance: “We create theatrical experiences that are for everyone. We’ve created over 70 productions and performed to over 38,000 audience members in all weathers. No hierarchy or elitism, telling good stories in innovative ways to create a great night out.”

Much Ado About Nothing will be making a comeback following its success touring the country throughout the summer of 2015. Oddsocks are bringing the Italian summer closer to home, retelling the story of Beatrice and Benedick, their trials and tribulations, to a soundtrack of foot-tapping and well-loved anthems to form a high-octane musical. This production is not to be missed.

Performances are at Markeaton Park Craft Village at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £17.25, with offers on advance, family and group tickets. These can be purchased through the Derby LIVE box office on 01332 255800.
