They stayed up into the wee small hours, for this much hyped punch up - like some Las Vegas heavyweight contest - and they were unanimous that it's the best film Marvel has ever made.

Yes, there will be comparisons with the recent Superman v Batman. This has team Captain America battling team Iron Man, sparked by a public outcry to govern the band of global good guy vigilantes.

But where DC remained dark, moody and by no means family friendly, this latest in the Captain America saga is in a different league.

Civil War is quite simply epic family entertainment, action packed, with spectacular special effects and super one-liners. It dares to have a laugh and a chuckle at the expense of its cast, which makes it fun. It has a heart and soul. A knockout.

There are no baffling sub plots and it all makes perfect sense, why the Avengers are divided and why Captain America and Iron Man are out to knock each other's block off. But no huge spoilers here.

In essence, this is the latest Avengers film, minus the Hulk, but with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, and a host of others returning for the new film.

That's not all. Look out for guest appearances from Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Vision, Black Widow, Black Panther, Falcon, War Machine and even Spider-Man drops in!

I gave it a Marvel-ous nine out of ten. Here's what fans thought - see out video report online - as they left the cinema in the wee small hours, as some of the first people anywhere to see the film everyone is raving about.
