Odd couple in brand new play

THE Honey Man, commissioned by New Perspectives Theatre Company and Derby LIVE, will play at the Guildhall Theatre, Derby, from March 16-31, before it embarks on an eight-week tour.

The Honey Man is about an unlikely relationship that develops one summer between Misty, a 15-year-old girl, and The Honey Man, an ‘ancient’ Afro-Caribbean man who has taken up residence in a derelict cottage at the edge of an English village where she lives.

It’s a tale of growing up and growing old, of individual responsibility and shared history, of dying bees, healing herbs and (possibly) just a little magic.

In the cast are Tyrone Huggins (The Honey Man) and Esther Smith (Misty). It is directed by Suzanne Gorman with design by Juliet Shillingford, lighting by Jeremy Rowe and sound by Adam McCready.

Tickets are £8-£24. Call the box office on 01332 255800.
