Calling all pirates and aspiring Robin Hoods. Help bring history to life this month as Belper History Fair explodes into life.
Belper North Mill is holding a fun packed, musket blowing, arrow slinging activity day on Saturday, September 21.
Those attending will be joined by Mark Sanders from BBC’s Sewing Bee. Mark and his wife Donna are just perfect for the fair as their steampunk clothing is inspired by a modern twist on Victorian finery and, in this case, piracy.
As well as pirates, the mill will be surrounded by the sound of gunfire and the smell of gunpowder when James Green, a visiting medieval master gunner, demonstrates how to shoot a musket.
He’ll be there with his range of armour, helmets and cannon too.
There will also be the Forest Bowmen and local historical societies sharing their knowledge about medieval archery and local history.
Belper North Mill manager Sarah Skinner said: “The Belper History Fair looks set to bring history to life with a real bang! Why not come along and join us to find out more.”
Come along and take part on Saturday September 21 between 1pm and 5pm. For more information call 01773 880474.
