Monroe is the focus of new play in Belper

Life Theatre Limited is to present American Goddess, a new play with music, by Daniel David Webber.

The performance takes place in Belper on Saturday, May 24, from 6pm, at Ritmo Studio.

It will be followed by a question and answer session with the cast and creative team about the production.

In July 1962, a young photographer gets the assignment of his dreams, three days alone with Marilyn Monroe, in a bid to capture what he feels will be ‘The Real Marilyn’.

He will experience a rare glimpse of the woman behind the legend and the price of being a star, not knowing that, just four short weeks later, she would be dead.

Based on real events, American Goddess is a funny, moving and fascinating portrayal of one of the most famous women of the 20th century.

Three days, one shot. American Goddess is a play with music that looks closely at one of the era’s biggest icons.

Tickets are £7 (£5 in advance) and are available from The Cherry Orchard or by calling the box office on 07788 556226.

The performance is taking place as part of the Belper Arts Festival.
