Casting is now complete for Rufus Norris’s highly anticipated reimagining of his double Olivier-award winning production of Cabaret, starring Will Young and Michelle Ryan.
The production will visit the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, from September 10-15, prior to heading for the West End.
Acclaimed actress Siân Phillips will play Fraulein Schneider. One of Britain’s most respected talents, she has delivered some unforgettable performances, such as Livia in the classic BBC series I Claudius; Lady Anne opposite Alec Guinness in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy; and with Peter O’Toole in Goodnight Mr Chips and Murphy’s War, to name but a few.
Matt Rawle will appear as Cliff. His musical theatre work includes playing Martin Guerre at the Prince Edward Theatre; Ché in Evita (Adelphi); the title role in Zorro (Garrick); and Pippin (Menier Chocolate Factory).
Prolific actor Linal Haft, known for a wide range of appearances, from The Sweeney to Moulin Rouge!, and more recently as Harry Gold in EastEnders, will play Herr Schultz, while Harriet Thorpe, reprises her role as Fraulein Kost. She is perhaps most familiar for her performances as receptionist Carol in The Brittas Empire.
