The Krazy Kat Theatre Company will be performing The Waving Cat of Japan, at Derby’s Guildhall Theatre on Thursday, May 30, from 11am.

The Waving Cat is the Japanese cat-shaped figurine that is said to bring good luck and of whom there are many folk tales and legends.

Krazy Kat Theatre Company will be bringing the visually exciting new Sign Language Arts creation The Waving Cat of Japan to the Guildhall stage.

Krazy Kat will be celebrating their 30th birthday by presenting a Bunraku puppet-style theatrical fantasy, mixing in spectacular traditional Japanese images borrowed from the ‘Noh’ and ‘Kabuki’ theatre.

A tropical storm, the wicked Sorceress, a not-so-smart Prince and three tricky tasks to perform before midnight?

Sounds a tough call. Luckily, Maneki Neko the waving cat is on hand to try to help…

Lavishly designed by Chris de Wilde and lovingly directed by Caroline Parker, the highly acclaimed deaf Japanese choreographer Chisato Minamimura is welcomed to the creative team for this production.

This show is suitable for 3-7 year olds. Tickets, priced at £7.25 £7.25, are available on 01332 255800.
