The production - the company’s first panto - takes place from February 18-22 at Heanor Gate Science College.

Kim Harris who is chairman of the company, and is playing Widow Twankey, says this first panto for the company is something everyone has enjoyed putting together.

“We think it will specially appeal to families and help them to recover from the post-Christmas blues. It will also provide a nice half-term holiday treat at a modest cost.”

His wife Julia plays Aladdin so it’s all go in the Harris household as the couple have been learning their lines and songs over the past few month. Kim has also designed the set and is helping with the construction.

All tickets are £6 on the Tuesday evening and for the rest of the week the full price is £9 with £8 for concessions.

The director is Linda Hardy, who runs a dance school in Heanor. Linda has directed and choreographed many shows for the company, which was previously known as Heanor Operatic Society and celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.

Other principal parts will be taken by Brett Waller (Wishee Washee); Mark Pike (Abanazar); Debbie Twells (The Empress of China); Amy Booth (Princess So-Shi); Brett Hart (Pc Ping); Paddy Stanley (Pc Pong); Josh Waldron (The Genie of the Lamp); Trish Church (The Slave of The Ring) and David Storer (Ra the sun god and the narrator).
