FOOTBALL commentator John Motson, regarded by many as the voice of football broadcasting, will be at Buxton Opera House on Sunday, June 3, at 7.30pm, to shed light on his phenomenal career.
As one of the best-known personalities in sports, John’s contributions to Match of the Day, Grandstand, Football Focus and Five Live have been regular, varied and at moments very memorable.
From 1979 to 2008 he was the BBC’s voice on all major cup finals including the FA Cup, European Championships and World Cup. John even made the record books, providing commentary for a record breaking six World Cup Finals and twenty-nine FA Cup Finals, an achievement not reached by any other commentator.
He has also researched and narrated over 30 football videos and written four books, including Motty’s Diary - A Year In The Life Of A Commentator, and his autobiography, Motty – Forty Years in the Commentary Box, in 2009. Now he comes to the Opera House for a fascinating and highly entertaining evening of reminiscences.
The show begins at 7.30pm. Tickets for An Audience with John Motson are priced at £14 and £16 and discounts are available. Call the box office on 0845 127 2190 or buy online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
