THE week’s music entertainment at The Flowerpot in Derby features three top tribute bands, a quality roots music act and the return of some popular old favourites in the latest Acoustic Wednesdays event.

Kicking things off on Friday, September 16, will be Kings Of Lyon with their tribute to the music of the Kings Of Leon.

The Kings of Lyon are hailed in some quarters as the best, the most accurate and most vibrant tribute to Kings of Leon.

They exploded onto the scene at the beginning of 2009 and have been propelled up the tribute ladder with panache and a youthful vibrancy that secured them an O2 Academy headline tour, a European Spring tour, a string of festival dates throughout Europe and the UK, and sell-out shows in the country’s foremost music venues from Ireland to the Channel Islands.

For something a little different, try the return of AC/DC tribute act AC/DC UK to the King Street venue on Saturday, September 17.

Taking a break from all this tribute music, you can enjoy an appearance on Tuesday, September 20, from acclaimed duo Spiers and Boden with the very best in roots music.

The duo are touring on the back of the release during the summer of their latest album – The Works – which is a tenth anniversary recording of some of their best songs from their five albums to date. The Works features guest appearances from the likes of Eliza Carthy and Maddy Prior.

On Wednesday, September 21, Woolley and Archer return to The Flowerpot as the latest act to appear in the ongoing Acoustic Wednesdays sessions in the bar. They will be performing from 9pm and admission is free.

Finally, fans of the music of Messrs Weller, Foxton and Buckler will revel in the third tribute act of the week, The Jamm. Paying tribute to the one of the best-loved British bands of the 70s and 80s, they will be delving into The Jam’s illustrious back catalogue, performing such classic tracks as The Eton Rifles, Going Underground, Town Called Malice and many more songs made famous by the Woking trio.

Doors open at 8pm and admission is £9 (£8 concessions) for the Kings Of Lyon, £9 (£8 concessions) for AC/DC UK, £14 for Spiers and Boden, and £10 for The Jamm.
