DERBY Concert Orchestra make the first of two visits this year to St Mary’s Church in Wirksworth for a performance there on Saturday, May 19.
Conducted by Jonathan Trout, the concert features a double bill by the French composer Hector Berlioz, plus a popular 20th century flute concerto.
The three works to be played in the concert, which gets under way at 7.30pm, are Berlioz’s early work Les Francs-Juges Overture plus the spectacular piece that made his name, the Symphonie Fantastique.
Sandwiched in between is to be a performance of the Flute Concerto by the Danish composer Carl Nielsen, featuing Lucy McIntyre as the soloist.
Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions). Under 16s get in free with an adult.
They are available from Paynes the Chemist, Wirksworth, orchestra members and on the door.
