Come and Sing Schubert

Belper Singers are to hold a Come And Sing event on Saturday, June 28.

The event is being held at the Strutt Community Centre in Belper.

The work to be performed is Schubert’s Mass In G.

If you do not have your own copies of the music you will be able to borrow them on the day.

Belper Singers is an experienced chamber choir of about 28 voices, most of whom live in or near Belper. The current repertoire both sacred and secular is drawn from the 16th to 20th centuries. It is mostly sung unaccompanied or with organ and occasionally with a small orchestral ensemble.

Schubert’s Mass in G was written by Schubert when just 18 for his local church in a suburb of Vienna. The piece is a fine example of Schubert’s lyrical skill, heard with particular fine effect in the Kyrie and Benedictus. The Sanctus and Gloria provide a contrast of mood while the Agnus Dei brings the piece to a peaceful conclusion.

Registration on the day is from 9am. The cost of the day is £15. Your place is secured on receipt of payment and is strictly on a first come first served basis.

A finger buffet lunch will be available on the day at a cost of £5 per person. Please indicate on the booking form if you require lunch.

Further information can be found at www.belpersingers.web.com or from Sarah Walker on 01773 882827. Visitors are welcome to come to the performance, at 4pm, and will be charged £2.
