DERBY Bach Choir will sing the St Mark Passion in a concert at Derby Cathedral on Saturday, March 24, from 7.30pm.
Bach’s work is to be played in a performing version by Simon Heighes and translated into English for Derby Bach Choir by Nicholas Fisher and John Russell.
The innovative choir has commissioned this first English translation and performance of the recently-restored Passion and will look to bring drama and intensity to Bach’s emotionally charged music.
The professional, period instrument Bach Baroque Ensemble will feature alongside the choir and the concert will be conducted by Richard Roddis.
The solo singers are Mark Dobell, Nicki Kennedy, Tim Travers Brown, Stuart Young and Gregory Skidmore.
Tickets are £17.50 (reserved) and £12 (unreserved). Students can get in for £5.
They are available from Foulds of Irongate in Derby by calling 01332 344842.
