Ultimate Elton and The Rocket Band will kick off the week at The Flowerpot in Derby with their tribute to the considerable musical back catalogue of Elton John.
Some tribute artists look like their idol, some sound like their idol. Paul Bacon as Elton John does both. Close your eyes and you won’t believe your ears, open your eyes and you won’t believe them either.
A lifelong Elton John fan, Paul first started singing and performing Elton’s songs while studying Performing Arts at University in the early 1980s. With an extraordinarily similar singing voice to Sir Elton’s, Paul is able to draw on an amazing back catalogue of hits to produce a truly wonderful celebration of Elton’s music.
Then, on Saturday, February 15, there’s more tribute action with Dark Side Of The Wall.
The award-winning, Coventry-based eight-piece tribute band recreate the live performances of Pink Floyd, one of the most revered bands in the history of popular music.
With over 16 years of live performances behind them, their concerts are a dazzling, fast-moving event in every way.
Playing well over two hours of classic tracks in an almost reverent tribute to Pink Floyd, a Dark Side Of The Wall show is terrific entertainment and, despite the perceived seriousness of the music, they prove that a Floyd show can put a smile on your face.
Entertainment is key and the priority is to ensure the audience have thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
A superb moving light show and several special effects add to the overall visual spectacle, being an essential part of the band’s performance.
Whether you are a bona-fide ‘Floydie’ or just looking for a really good night out, a DSOTW show is a must for all genuine fans of rock music.
Finally, on Thursday, February 20, you can see a gig at the King Street-based venue by Babajack.
Babajack are 2013 British Blues Awards winners and rising stars of blues and roots circuit, appearing at the Flowerpot for the first time with their full band.
Babajack is an acoustic blues/roots/fusion band from Malvern.
But don’t be fooled by acoustic – these guys rock. Their groove, rhythm and percussive upbeat sound is addictive.
They always give 100 per cent with passion, energy and dedication.
But above all, it is the quality of delivery that has to be experienced. They are instrumentalists with a difference.
Doors open at 8pm. Admission is £12 for Ultimate Elton John, £10 for Dark Side Of The Wall, £10 for Babajack.
