The Assembly Rooms in Derby will play host to a St George’s Day Celebration Concert on Saturday, April 23, starting at 8pm, which includes a performance by Ripley Morris Men.
Top of the bill are Sam Sweeney on the fiddle, and Hannah James playing the accordion and providing the vocals. The pair are two bright young stars of the British folk scene.
Both from Derbyshire, they have long since established themselves as firm favourites at festivals and concerts at home and abroad.
Probably best known for their work in Kerfuffle, The Demon Barber Roadshow and Bellowhead. The event will also see Keith Kendrick, one of England’s most celebrated folk singers on concertina, teaming up with Sylvia Needham, a fine highly skilled singer with an immense and varied repertoire.
A spokesman for the Assemby Rooms said: “It’s an all Derbyshire celebration night with Ripley Morris Men, “St George and the Dragon”, and their musicians. What more could you wish for. Time to celebrate St George with songs and music.”
Tickets are £14, under 16s £8 available from Ticket Hotline 01773 853428, or the Assembly Rooms Box Office 01332 255800.
