Sujata Aten’s Entrancing Form and Colour exhibition can be seen at Derby Cathedral Centre throughout October.
The title summarises the impact of the abstract paintings which you will see in the Sir Richard Morris Lounge at the centre.
Sujata’s work has been described as unique to her and not an imitation of someone else’s style.
It invites you to explore the relationship between the striking colours and the surging forms created by their juxtaposition.
Born in India, Sujata has lived in Britain since 2000 and graduated with Honours in Fine Art from the University of Derby in 2009.
She said: “I am passionate about colours and I am inspired by landscapes for my paintings.
“I work from my memory trying to recreate the feelings and the mood that the depicted landscape signifies for me.
“I do not always produce an accurate representation but aim to evoke a sense of personal experience, to create an image which brings together different aspects of the landscape.”
The exhibition opens on October 1 and continues until October 31, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm (closed on Sundays).
