Gigs galore during festive week at venue

Dr Feelgood

Dr Feelgood

Leading Slade tribute act Slyde Alive will kickstart a busy festive season of gigs at The Flowerpot in Derby on Thursday, December 19.

Slyde Alive deliver the sounds, the sights and the power of one of Great Britains’ greatest live acts… Slade.

The band faithfully replicate the bawdy singalong tunes, the glam and the glitter excess.

Slyde Alive were formed to play the classic Slade songs the way the band themselves played them live. The setlist is a glitter-strewn journey through Slade’s glam rock anthems of the 70s, right up to the rock revival hits of the 80s.

The band members are all seasoned pros on the tribute circuit who will give you two and a half hours of glam heaven with all the energy and power of Noddy and the boys.

Then, on Friday, December 20, it’s the return of Dr Feelgood, who took the Flowerpot by storm on their previous visit to the King Street venue in December 2012.

Formed in Essex during the 1970s, Dr. Feelgood remain one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world.

The raw and uncompromising sound and style of their music resulted in the album Stupidity, which immediately went to the number one position in the U.K. charts.

The current line up features the rhythm section Kevin Morris on drums and Phil Mitchell on bass, both celebrating 28 years in the band this year, Steve Walwyn on guitar and vocalist Robert Kane.

Support on the night comes from Derby blues favourites Paul Evans and Paul Miro, collectively known as Mojosa.

On Saturday, December 21, The Fillers are back to perform their tribute to The Killers.

The Fillers will be playing all the hits as well as tracks from Brandon Flowers’s latest album Flamingo

On Sunday, December 22, you can see David Bowie tribute band Jean Genie, formed in 1993 following the discovery of the David Bowie look and sound alike artiste John Mainwaring.

The band very soon became known for their flamboyant stage show. Songs performed in the shows include the classics Heroes, Let’s Dance, Life On Mars, Rebel Rebel, Jean Genie, Under Pressure, Ashes To Ashes and many others.

Finally, on Monday, December 23, there’s a sold-out gig from Fleetwood Bac, with their tribute to the music of Fleetwood Mac.

Doors open for all of this week’s gigs at 8pm.

Admission is £8 for Slyde Alive, £13 for Dr Feelgood, plus support Mojosa, £10 for The Fillers and £10 for Jean Genie.

Advance tickets are available from The Flowerpot and RAW Promotions. See www.rawpromo.co.uk for more.
