Alfreton CC 1sts have retained first position in the DCCL Division One table as the season moves into its second half.
Their latest victory came on Saturday when they saw off Quarndon by 116 runs.
Batting first, Alfreton were dismissed for 210 with the main contributions coming from Matt Lineker with 49, Thomas Bentley with an unbeaten 57 and 49 from John Aspinall.
Quarndon made it 35 without loss but after that were regular wickets taken by Alfreton’s pack of bowlers and the visitors were eventually bowled out for 94.
Former Derbyshire batsman Ben Spendlove top-scored with 32 while the wickets were shared between Matt Lineker (4-4), Andy Gwatkin (2-7), Jonathon Clarke (2-35) and Adam Clarke (2-35).
The result means that Alfreton are 13 points clear but still close behind them are second-placed Marehay, who are still unbeaten in the league this season and have a game in hand on the leaders.
On Saturday, Marehay were away at Ambergate and completed a seven-wicket victory over their hosts.
Ambergate were dismissed for 176 as Aussie all-rounder turned in a superb display of pace bowling to take 7-48, ably backed up by James Kyte with three wickets. Muhammad Sultan scored an unbeaten 103 for Ambergate.
Kyte then showed his prowess with the bat to make 88 not out, as he combined well with Gaz Buckley (38 not out).
Marehay reached their target in only the 35th over.
This Saturday, Alfreton are at home to Rolls-Royce Leisure and Marehay entertain Rolleston.
