Both batsmen and bowlers performed well for Shipley Hall at Alvaston and Boulton on Saturday in Division Three of the DCCL.
The batsmen scored 231-6 and the bowlers managed to claim eight wickets in an exciting game, with A and B scoring 215-8.
A and B won the toss and put Shipley in to bat.
Although losing an early wicket, that of Neil Parkin, Paul Aldred and Martinus Gouws, then set about the bowling and lusty blows from both batsmen saw Shipley race to 125 before another wicket fell with Gouws hitting 40 and Aldred 71 in two splendid innings which gave Shipley an impressive start.
More was to follow when James Cokayne came to the crease and, after a patient start, hit a blistering 70 not out with 58 runs coming in the last 15 minutes.
David Farnsworth made a useful 12 and Matt Murfin 20 not out in a total of 231-6, a very impressive total.
The A and B bowlers had torrid time but Crowther took 3-52 off his 12 overs and Ottewell 2-80 off 13.
When A and B batted, they faced a formidable total and found it difficult against the bowling of Murfin and Gouws.
They slumped to 99-6 and then 122-7 but Siviter (48 not out) and Ottewell (28 not out) staged a great fightback and scored some quick runs to reach the 200 mark, having lost 8 wickets in the process and Shipley were not able to capture the last two vital wickets for victory.
Man of the match Gouws took 3-37 and Matt Murfin took 3-62.
Shipley took 17 points from the game and A and B 12.
