South Normanton Athletic are just one game away from clinching the Central Midlands League Black Dragon South title after their latest victory.
But Bilborough Pelican side gave Normanton a tough first half and were on top until a brilliant long ball from Ryan Grainger to the opposite wing just before half-time to Ben Greenhalge, who somehow got a brilliant head on the ball to control it.
He then crossed the ball to Kyle Wadsworth to fire home from 16 yards and Normanton took a 1-0 lead into the second half.
The second half started brilliantly for Normanton when a long clearance from the keeper was controlled by Shane Newton, who turned the defender inside out and curled the ball into the top right hand corner on 47 minutes, then on 52 minutes Shane Newton got his brace from the penalty spot to make the score 3-0, thanks to good work from Danny Roberts.
In the second half, South Normanton Athletic played brilliantly thanks to a rock solid performance by the defence to keep a clean sheet. It says it all when the brilliant centre half Andy Mottershead gets the man of the match award.
South Normanton Athletic need to beat Clifton All Whites this weekend, and if they do, they lift the Black Dragon South league title.
