Heanor Town CC 2nds hosted Mugginton on Saturday.

After losing the toss. Heanor were asked to bat and struggled to find runs easily due to some super bowling from Muggington.

At drinks, Heanor only had 41 runs on the board but still only one wicket down.

Heanor doubled the score in the next ten overs (86-1 after 34) after seeing off the opening bowlers.

Eddie Barlow and Gary Hickinbotham started to take charge with Barlow’s 50 coming up after a lot of hard work and Gary Hickinbotham’s soon followed after a slow start with runs coming freely at the back end of the innings.

Barlow was then trapped LBW for a fine 78.Paul Fletcher came to the crease and immediately sent the ball into the road for six.

Heanor finished on 184-2 with Gary Hickinbotham scoring a very solid 66 not out.

After tea, Liam Sloman struck with his first ball, taking the very important wicket of Docherty.

The second wicket soon fell with Sloman removing the bails followed by the third wicket with some very good fielding by Olly Naylor forcing a run out with the score at 21-3 from 11 overs.

After the drinks break, Liam Barlow picked up the wicket of Wheatcroft with a fine catch by Olly Naylor.

With Mugginton 72-5 from 25 overs, Heanor were striving to get wickets but found it difficult with the Mugginton batsmen digging in.

Paul Fletcher eventually picked up a wicket in his second spell but Heanor unfortunately couldn’t find any more wickets to force a victory and the match was drawn.

The score finally finished on 156-6, with Heanor picking up 16 points for their efforts. Big positives of the day were the runs coming from Eddie Barlow and Gary Hickinbotham.
