Marlpool sporting star Phil Hogg was among the winners at the 2013 Derbyshire Sports Awards, sponsored by the University of Derby.
The paratriathlete was named the University of Derby Disabled Sportsperson of the Year.
Phil competes in the TRI 1 category, for athletes using a wheelchair, and won gold medals at both the European Championships and British Championships earlier this year.
Having previously competed in wheelchair racing, Phil was selected for the Great Britain Paratriathlon Talent Programme earlier this year and is aiming to be selected to compete at the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016.
Phil was presented with his winner’s trophy by Hari Punchihewa, deputy chief executive and finance firector at the University of Derby.
Results of the Derbyshire Sports Awards were announced at The Roundhouse in Derby on Thursday, November 14, during a ceremony attended by 270 people.
Olympic silver medallist and top BBC sports pundit Colin Jackson CBE was the guest speaker at the event, sharing insights into life as a top athlete and broadcaster. Colin is an ambassador for Matrix Fitness, which, for the second year, was a category sponsor.
