Six of Derbyshire’s brightest prospects have agreed new deals with the county, including Denby CC’s Peter Burgoyne.
England Under-19s all-rounder Burgoyne has signed a new three-year contract, while fellow all-round prospect Alex Hughes will transfer from a summer contract to a three-year full-time professional contract from October 1 next year following the completion of his studies.
Burgoyne, 18, has eight career List A and four Twenty20 matches to his credit and hit a maiden unbeaten century for the 2nd XI versus MCC Universities in August.
Hughes, 21, has played seven List A and four Twenty20 matches for Derbyshire and hit a vital unbeaten 37 to guide the Falcons to victory over Yorkshire Carnegie at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, in July.
There is a new one-year deal for fast-bowler Alasdair Evans, 23, and the club has also moved to secure the services of Ben Slater and Matt Higginbottom on enhanced summer contracts.
19-year-old fast bowler Johny Marsden has earned a summer contract for the first time following an encouraging season while batsman Hamza Siddique has been released.
