Ripley RASCALS’ swimmers Molly Renshaw,16, and Jamie Ingram, 14, were in action last
weekend at the Midlands Short Course Championships in Corby, and achieved some outstanding results.
Molly competed in six events, and reached the finals in five. She won the 200m breaststroke in a time of 2.27.47, and the 100m individual medley in 1.04.72, a new personal best time.
She was second in the 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley, third in 400m individual medley, and ninth in 200m freestyle, showing whata truly exceptional all-round swimmer she is.
Jamie competed in eight events, his best finish being second place for the under 15sin 1500m freestyle. He clocked a time of 16.24.17 for this 60-length race, knockinga massive 32 seconds off his personal best.
This swim now ranks Jamie first in Great Britain for this event in the 14 years age category. Jamie came fourth in 200m butterfly and 400m freestyle, fifth in 100m butterfly and 400m individual medley, sixth in 100m individual medley, and ninth in 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.
This was the first time that Jamie had qualified for the Midlands short course Championships, and rounds off a fine year for him.
