Sudale takes the honours in darts open

There was another impressive turnout of players for the fourth Ripley Elite Darts Singles League Xmas Open.

Former winners Dean Winstanley and Reece Spurr were amongst the favourites out of an incredibly strong field of 81 players.

Woodvilles very own Elvis Ricky Sudale prevailed, beating last year’s winner Reece Spurr in a one-sided final, Spurr running out of steam after beating Winstanley in a high scoring semi-final.

The REDSL player who got furthest in the competition was Dean Allsopp, who showed the kind of form that took him to several television appearances only a few years ago but Sudale put in a fantastic 12-dart deciding leg victory over the Heanor marksman.

The four losing quarter finalists were Loz Barnes, Paul Baker, Paul Redfern and another REDSL player Keith Cooper.

Organisers said it was a fantastic night of high quality darts proving that local competitions are still very much alive.

A bumper raffle was also done on the night and many thanks go to the raffle ladies Julie Wilson, Helen Harvey and Ashleigh Chrich. Nick Kirk produced another flawless performance as tournament director. Many thanks to all who helped and, with the support of the last two REDSL competitions, a possibility has arrived for a guaranteed £1,000 winners competition in the new year.
