Selston High School has hosted a Rugby festival for Year Eight pupils from three local schools.
Selston welcomed teams from Ashfield and Quarrydale Schools for a ‘double round robin’ 12s rugby competition.
From their four games, the boys from Selston, the large majority of whom were playing in their first rugby matches, recorded three wins and one close loss.
Selston recorded two wins against Ashfield School, one a close 10-0 victory and one a convincing 25-5. The boys’ third win came against Quarrydale school, beating them 20-5.
The boys who represented the school were selected from those who have come to the well-attended extracurricular coaching sessions and those who have shown promise in PE lessons. Following their early successes, the boys will hope to build on the promise that they have shown and represent the school in district and county competitions.
