Six members of Ripley Running Club competed in the recent Wilne 10k run.
This event was in its first year so and by all accounts a flat and fast course meant elite runners flocked from miles around for that initial personal best time.
The course was set in the beautiful settings of Wilne, a quiet village in Derbyshire. It took in the scenic St Chads water and the River Derwent .
The weather was drizzly so perfect to cool those people who wanted to push themselves to the limit!
First back for Ripley was Dean Taylor in a great time of 37mins 50mins. The second back for Ripley was Lucy Holmes in a superb personal best time of 38mins 20secs next and yet another personal best time was Richard Phillis who came back in a awesome time of 40mins 46secs.
Next back for Ripley was Simon English in 46mins 04secs, then Paula Brudenell in a quick time of 47mins 12secs, Bill Powis in a time of 48mins then Antoinette Franco came back in a super time of 57mins 53 mins.
The same weekend also saw The Great Longstone Chase, a fell race which saw a climb of 950ft over 4.8-miles up to Longstone Edge.
First back for Ripley was Matt Jones in tenth place in a great time of 43mins 20secs. Also running for Ripley was Wayne Smithurst who finished in a time of 52mins 22 secs
Ripley Running Club meet at Ripley Leisure Centre every Tuesday at 6.45pm. All abilities are welcome.
