Ripley Running Club member Luke Beresford was in excellent form at the weekend, after he clinched an impressive victory in a half marathon in Wales.
A total of eleven Ripley Runners braved the wet and windy conditions for the North Wales Half Marathon in Conwy as part of a running club day trip.
The course, which starts and finishes on the local beach, is a combination of both road and off-road running.
It includes one long climb to the top of Conwy Mountain and lasts about three miles (an ascent of 229 metres) followed by a tricky descent back into the town.
It was a difficult day of running due to the conditions but the course remained popular and still attracted just under 400 runners.
It was a memorable weekend all round for the club, as Ripley club members took three of the main prizes on offer.
Beresford was first overall after leading the race from start to finish in a terrific time of 1:20.51.
Elsewhere, Esther Broughton won first prize in the female V40 category thanks to a time of 1:47.40 (85th).
The Ladies’ team, which consisted of Broughton, Cathy Cresswell and Lisa Watson won their fourth team prize of the year.
Other Ripley finishers on the day included Matthew Jones (19th), Richard Simms (40th), Cathy Cresswell (89th), Karl Tietz (116th), Jerry Bateman (148th), Ian Warton-Woods (175th), Lisa Watson (252nd), Ryan Smith (287th) and Tom Briggs (288th).
