Ripley Rhinos 1sts 19

Tupton 2nds 55

Rhinos paid the penalty for a terrible start as a strong Tupton 2nds brushed them aside in this Pennant League Group Four game.

Ripley’s defence was weak from the start and conceded seven fairly soft tries in a terrible first half display.

They did pick up as half-time neared and scored two of their own from scrum half Mitch Wilmott and a superb solo effort from loose head prop Anton Brown.

Skipper Will Evans converted both but had strong half-time words for his side as they went in 45-19 behind.

Tupton rang the changes in the second half and the maroons played a lot better, so the second half score was only 10-5 to the visitors, with Rhinos’ try being a great team effort finished off by inside-centre Liam Porter.

A very poor start against a strong Tupton team saw Ripley out of this game long before half time but they can be buoyed by an improved second half display. Scrum half Mitch Wilmott again won the BAB Plumbing & Heating man of the match award. This Saturday Rhinos are at Ilkeston 4ths.
