RASCALS gala squad competed recently in the first round of the Notts and District Autumn League competition, held at Retford.
With interim head coach Glenn Fisher in charge of the team, RASCALS finished in second place behind Carlton Forum, managing to see off a strong challenge from Calverton and Bingham who finished three points behind.
It was a great team performance all round.
The Open age group swimmers (16 years and above) set the standard for the night, with individual first places for Jess Cross (50m backstroke), Dom Bestwick (50m back), and Xander Parr (50m freestyle), Xander’s being a personal best time of 26.16 seconds.
Both relay teams (Jess Cross, Jennie Lockwood, Karen Dening and Josie Lockwood for the girls; Dom Bestwick, Adam Threlfall, Rob Sheard and Xander Parr for the boys) won their freestyle and medley relays.
Other individual first places were achieved by Jess Lockwood (50m butterfly), Vicky Threlfall (50m butterfly), Jason Lockwood (50m breaststroke), Matt Cross (25m butterfly and 50m freestyle), Jamie Ingram (50m breast, 50m butterfly).
There were also wins in the following relay events:
Nine year old girls freestyle relay (Jess Hancock, Kezia Emerton, Jennifer Conway and Leila Grainger)
13 year olds and under freestyle and medley relays (Jamie Ingram, Ben Coyle, Jacob Coyle, Matt Cross)
15 year olds and under medley relay (Josh Bee-Tong, Cameron Hutchinson, Frazer Crump, Alex Wright).
Personal best times
Swimmers achieving personal best times on the night were: Ella Ingram, Alice Richards, Isabel Thompson, Sophie Large, Vicky Threlfall, Jennie Lockwood, Jason Lockwood, Matt Cross, Ben Coyle, Jacob Coyle, Josh Bee-Tong, Cameron Hutchinson, Frazer Crump and Xander Parr.
Coach Glenn Fisher commented “Everyone swam really well tonight, and it was a good team effort.
“We now need to take this level of performance into the next two rounds of the competition.”
