The annual British Gas ASA National County Team Championships were held at Ponds Forge, with 38 counties competing.
20 of those taking part at the Sheffield venue were in Division One, and 19 in Division Two, with the bottom four in Division One being relegated each year, and the top four in Division Two being promoted.
Derbyshire were looking to improve on last year’s finishing position of 12th. Ripley RASCALS and Derventio eXcel swimmers Molly Renshaw (17) and Jamie Ingram (15) both represented their county at the event.
Molly finished fourth in the 100m breaststroke, and swam the freestyle leg for the 16-17-year-old girls medley relay team, which came home in tenth place.
Jamie Ingram swam a personal best time of 59.43 in 100m butterfly, finishing tenth, and also swam the butterfly leg for the 14-15 year old boys medley relay team, with the team finishing 12th.
In a close competition, Molly and Jamie helped the Derbyshire team to finish in 11th place on 321 points, only seven points behind tenth-placed team Scotland East. Nottinghamshire finished 14th with 298 points, with Lancashire winning the title.
