Ripley Running Club was out in force at the recent Derby 10K event with 20 members involved.
Ian Duffin led home the green and gold contingent in a fine 47th place in a new personal best of 37.07. Andy Parkin and Luke Freeman were hot on his heels in 51st and 94th in times of 37.23 and 39.09.
Other Ripley runners included: Ron Ilsley - 131st (39.55); Jon Marriott- 345th (43.38); Carl Hopkinson- 444th (44.39); Wayne Yearwood- 447th (44.43); Esther Broughton- 747th (47.28); Pete Newby- 728th (48.25); Mike Corrigan- 914th (48.55); Sarah Hunt- 1241st (51.00); Heather Brown- 1336th (51.38); Wayne Smith- 1532nd (53.07); Steve Donoghue- 1568 (53.22).
Meanwhie, Ripley Running Club’s sole representative in the Manchester Marathon was Vicky Leach.
After she failed in the ballot for the London Marathon, she didn’t want to get left behind when all of her friends were training, so entered this marathon set just a week after London. She managed a time of 4hrs, 3 minutes, 33 secs. Finishing in 2568th place in a large field of over 5,000 runners.
Finally, Andy Parkin managed a superb 13th place in the Lichfield half-marathon, on a very warm Sunday. He completed itin 1.24.44. Steph Ilsley also took part, finishing in 69th. She was the third female runner on the day.
