THE opening races in the 23rd annual Derby Midweek Races get under way on Wednesday, September 14, on possibly the flattest course in the UK, starting and finishing from outside the Alvaston & Boulton Cricket Club on Raynesway.
Each month from September to April, there are two races, the one-mile at 7pm and the 5km at 7.20pm.
The races have become very popular over the years attracting runners and joggers of all ages and all abilities.
However, hundreds of joggers have enjoyed the friendliness of the events over the years.
Registration is from 6pm on each occasion in the cricket club pavilion where changing and showers are available for the competitors.
