The children of Belper Marlin Swimming Club have been to Clay Cross to compete in the last event in the Diddy League calendar.
As always, a strong team of young and eager swimmers set themselves up at the side of the pool ready to fight for positions against local teams.
Firing off the blocks, it was great to see both the boys and girls giving their all for their team and town.
Residents of Belper would have been proud of the effort and commitment of these young swimmers.
In the end, the children were rewarded with a second place banner, losing marginally to a strong Dronfield Club.
As always, a packed crowd of parents were there to support and cheer on the team.
In the background was Mike Brett, head coach, of the Marlin team, and driving force for this latest success, who proved himself that if you are going to lead you have to do it through example.
A week earlier he went into a seniors competition in Plymouth, saying ‘I swam ok’ and came away with a win in 50 metres and 100metres backstroke, second in 50metres butterfly and a fourth in the 50metre freestyle.
He also won in both medley and freestyle teams.
