51 players of all standards turned out for the 1st Poet and Castle Spring Darts Open.
Seven PDC stars made the trip to Codnor to take part - Kyle Anderson, Jamie Caven, Daz Brown, Matt Padgett, Wayne Pepper, Scott Rand, and Mick Todd - plus lots of local darting talent with the Poets own darts singles league and the Ripley Elite Darts Singles league both turning out in force.
There was a fantastic standard throughout the day and at the end of it, it was down to Aussie Kyle (robo arm) Anderson and Derby’s Jamie ‘Jabba’ Caven fighting it out for the £400 first prize.
A spokesman for the event said: “Darts like the area’s never witnessed before were thrown with Anderson taking the title with a staggering 105.19 average, his winning legs c17 , 14 ,12 ,15 ,13 and 14 darts with 4 x 180s and a 121 checkout Jamie’s average of 99.71 was not too shabby either as his winning legs came in 16 and 12 darts with one maximum and a 174 and 177 with an 80 checkout .”
The two semi-finals were both one-sided affairs with Jabba seeing ofj local Loscoe lad Daz Sullivan 5-0 and Kyle beating Woodville’s Ricky ‘Elvis ‘ Sudale 5-0, both the winning averages in the high 90s .
Losing quarter finalists were Wayne Pepper, Ash Spencer , Matt Padgett and Reece Spurr .
