The Derby College golf team claimed another first place in the recent Inter Collegiate Tour (ICT) Event, played at Lingdale Golf Club, to stay top of the ICT league.
The team of eight players are all part of the Performance Golf Academy Derby player training programme, which is based at Morley Hayes, won both the net and gross events to maintain their challenge to win both net and gross leagues and qualify for the National Finals at the Shropshire Golf Club in early May.
Returning a gross total of 453, saw Derby one stroke clear of second-placed Solihull A and a net total of 433.
Greg Tickell led the way, shooting 73-0-73, with Sam Flannery 74-2-72, Niall Quinn Jarvis 75-1-74, Charley Mycock 76-6-70, Jake Conoley 77-5-72, Alex Harlow (Kedleston Park) 78-5-73, Will Painter (Kedleston Park) 78-3-75 and Jordan Barker (Kedleston Park) 80-4-76.
Performance Golf Academy programme director Nigel Furniss commented: “The Derby team did their job, which was to win both events to maintain our lead at the top of the
leagues. It was a difficult day with snow and cold temperatures to deal with, but the team stuck to their task well for a deserved win.”
The final fixture was due to to take place yesterday (Weds).
