Gold medal success for Olivia

Selston High School student Olivia Eminson is ‘dancing on ice’ after winning gold in the British Synchronised Ice Skating Championships, held at The Sheffield Ice Arena.

Olivia, who trains most nights at the Nottingham Synchronised Skating academy, based at the Nottingham Ice Arena, is ‘delighted’ with her success as part of the 16-strong team The Silhouettes.

The team, which has previously attended competitions in Europe, is now on a six-competition unbeaten run and is looking forward to competing in Dumfries, Scotland, in the coming weeks.

Olivia, who is now 12 years old, started training when she was aged eight.

Olivia said: “I’m so proud we won! To have my own gold medal just encourages me to try even harder.”

Olivia was keen to thank her coaches at the Ice Arena. Lauren Fletcher, Esther Bell and Louise Woodward for all their patience and support.

Headteacher Kevin Gaiderman praised Olivia and added: “She is a fine example of a student who works hard to achieve her goals both in and out of school.”
