SATURDAY, October 20, is World Squash Day and Duffield Squash and Racketball Club is inviting people to come along and get involved.
On World Squash Day, players from around the world will unite to create the world’s biggest squash match ever, to back the sport’s bid for a place in the 2020 Olympic Games.
With players and clubs from around the world participating, two teams will play in a global match aiming to set the record for the biggest sports fixture in history as well as the biggest squash match. The aim is to raise the profile of squash and to show the global support for the sport and the 2020 Olympic bid.
Following the 2020 theme for World Squash Day, Duffield Squash and Racketball Club, based at 23 Town Street, will be hosting two teams of at least 20 players (Team SQUASH and Team 2020). From the rival teams, members will play one game, first to 20 points. The scores will be fed into the overall global result to decide the winning team.
Show your support on World Squash Day and join the club, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, as it backs the bid for squash’s inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games and beyond.
In addition to entering teams into the biggest team match ever, people can get a taste of the sport and see what all the excitement is about.
Have a go at the game, chat to members, meet experienced coaches and check out the facilities. Everyone is welcome with the activities and games ongoing from 9am-9pm.
Refreshments are available all day.
