Two proud members of the PKA Kickboxing club in Heanor have successfully earned their black belts.

Reece Allen, who is 13, from Heanor, and 15-year-old Abbie Weston, from Swanwick, are the youngest students of the club to achieve this prestigious award. Both completed a gruelling five-hour exam at the kickboxing association’s headquarters at Temple Gym in Birmingham, which saw students from across the UK come together and test their skills.

Reece and Abbie earned what is the most coveted prize in martial arts after proving their worth alongside adults twice their age. And they won rich praise from the Heanor club’s instructor Neil Fletcher (2nd dan black belt), who said: “I am immensely proud of both Reece and Abbie.

“This is a fantastic achievement, especially with them being so young. They have both come a long way since their first class with me and have developed into great role-models for the rest of our junior and adult members. It’s a real testament to their skills as martial artists, and all the hard work and determination they put into their training every week.”
